Which Social Media Platforms Should My Business Be On?

Which Social Media Platforms should my Business be on?

There are so many different Social Media platforms available nowadays it can be difficult to know where you should invest your time and what will bring the best returns and leads. You are better to do 3 platforms well rather than try to do a patchy job across 7 different platforms.

Which Social Media Platforms?

So how do you know which platforms to choose? You will need to do a little research and find out where your customer and competitors are and certain Industries work better on specific platforms. For instance if you are an Engineering Consultancy I would say LinkedIn is your Number 1 priority. If you are a Clothes Retailer I would look at Instagram and for an Aged Care Facility a Facebook page. All these platforms are on top of already having a Website and a Google+ page that provides general information on your business such as location, reviews, hours and even photos.

The 2 Platforms every Business should be on

As a matter of course every business should have a Facebook Page and a LinkedIn Company Account to connect with likeminded people, businesses and potential customers. You are able to share Company updates and articles on LinkedIn with people in your Industry.

What about Twitter and YouTube and ….

Social Media Platforms such as Twitter, Snap chat, Pinterest and Tumblr are Industry specific. Apart from Twitter unless you are involved in travel, crafts, health, beauty or fashion I would not bother with these platforms. YouTube is great for instance if you have a product and you have a Video showing how to use it. Twitter is perfect for large businesses like a well established Law Firm, Industry Influencers and Corporates.

If I don’t have any Social Media, where should I start?

If you’ve put off starting your business on even one Social Media Platform just start off with a Facebook Page. Remember anyone can start a Business Facebook Page with your name! You don’t want to be in the position of not being able to use your own Business Name because someone else did!  This is your branding, it’s important that you take action NOW. Even if you are not ready to upload content just get the page set up!
