When it’s all said and done, well all-good things do have to come to an end don’t they. The years of planning and saving and the 11 foxy ladies tour has been and gone. It wasn’t a relaxing trip, actually it was full on and I came back exhausted but totally energized, if that makes sense! I loved the pace and variety of the trip. Visiting the beautiful city of Vancouver and meeting and spending one on one time with my special friend Kas was an amazing way to start the trip. Travelling to Seattle on the train was the only time the whole trip I had alone. 24hrs in Seattle and we managed to squeeze in shopping (of course) a look around the city, a catch up with my brother in law and participating in a fun run with the locals on Sunday morning.
First time on a cruise and along the inside passage of Alaska for a week was exciting, amazing and quite an adventure. With 5 metre waves rocking the ship it was a good time to discover the 3 of us don’t get seasick! I loved the combination of watching the scenery change outside, people watching and activities inside the ship and stopping at ports along the way to check out local places. We made new friends onboard and off. Helicopter and seaplane flights were exploits I once could only dream of, but have now experienced the exhilaration and adrenalin of walking on a glacier and landing on water in the misty fiords of Alaska. It wasn’t just the travel adventures but the choices of which restaurant shall we eat at tonight, what activity shall we do onboard today or which bar or nightclub shall we go to tonight? We didn’t have to worry about having to get home, let alone were our husbands or children having a good time? It was all about us girls and me again!
Vegas was the big meet and we were all in the shop, cocktail, shop, shop, shop, cocktail, dinner, show, shop zone. It worked because there was no agenda (well apart from 2 dinners); everyone did what they wanted, when they wanted and how they wanted! The ‘big’ dinner at Paris was amazing and one of those forever memories. Was so thrilled as 11 we were all seated around one round table, incredible views of Vegas, outstanding service and food, lots of laughter and chatter and an incredible special beautiful night.
Santa Monica more shopping, cocktails, some touristy stuff, shopping, and lots of walking! Anaheim was all about Disneyland, and a little more shopping at the outlets! Doing Disneyland with the girls was a totally different experience because you can go hard and go fast and get many of those rides in that you would have been unable to do with children.
All too soon the big foxy eleven adventures came to an end. I loved it and would do it again in a heartbeat if my husband let me! A girl’s trip like this is so what many women need and I really encourage you to plan and save for a trip like this. As a wife and mother it’s easy too loose your identity, a trip like this invigorates you again. To have an un interrupted and finished conversation, to share funny stories, laugh really hard, totally do what you want to do, (especially shop until YOU drop, not the kids) have a break from ground hog day….all this helps to make you a healthier woman mentally able to cope with the stresses of everyday life again.
Life is made up of experiences and adventures that we create for ourselves. I know when I am old I want to be able to look back and know that I stopped to create special memories along the way. Travel has always been in my blood, reignited again….now if only I could find a way to finance my passion! Whose up for the next foxy ladies tour?
